Comments

The past 24 hours or so have seen a lot of ‘firsts’ for the voyage; the first ice berg (which was very spectacular); the first time some expeditioners have crossed the 60 degree south latitude; the first visit from King Neptune; the first time I have seen a blow up killer whale get so much attention and generate so much laughter; the first time the Doctor gave a cold medicine talk for the voyage to expeditioners; and for the first time after 6 months of planning and preparation for this voyage by so many people (well it’s actually been years for Dr. Nick Gales) we are in a position and ready to launch the RIBs to start the scientific research on whales, in accordance with our operational procedures. But more importantly though, it was the first lamb roast for lunch on Sunday (yummie).
