Comments

Relatively calm seas have stayed with us over the last 24 hours, with a bright blue sky currently over the ship. This is not expected to last very much longer with the weather forecast looking particularly grim from Saturday night onwards. This means that we may only get one day of reasonable weather to conduct all our operations at Macquarie Island. In light of this a significant amount of effort is already underway to prioritise cargo and roundtrip projects to ensure that the time is utilised to best effect.

I forget to mention yesterday that we have two Springer Spaniels on board, both are part of the Macquarie Island Pest Eradication Team. The dogs are travelling to the island to undertake some familiarisation, prior to the full team going down next year as part of the joint Tasmanian and Commonwealth Government project to rid the island of rabbits. Both dogs have been travelling well and proving a big hit with all aboard, drawing large crowds to the Heli Deck for their afternoon training sessions.

All aboard enjoying the sunshine and clam seas while it lasts!

Regards

Rob and Aaron.
