226,000 litres of fuel were pumped ashore yesterday as a result of
a concerted team effort by all involved. Great work by the Muz and the AA
crew, clear leadership and coordination by Andy, Sprunky and Robbie on the
AA supported by the professional team ashore led by Jeremy and Lionel. Micks
boating crew also did a marvellous job to ensure the difficult on water
requirements of refuelling were safe and efficient.
19 bait pods and a few odds and ends were also sent ashore to the station by
LARC. The No 1 lower hold was emptied of pods and more pods were stacked in
the companionway ready for today's operation. With the challenges of
establishing the Hurd Point baiting depot and refuelling the station now
ticked off there was a warm glow aboard the Aurora Australis last night. Of
course everything is driven by the irresistible fare provided by the galley
and friendly vibes emanating from the AA caterers and stewards.
This morning has been all action with the fog lifting as planned at dawn.
With a rest day yesterday the Heli Res boys sprinted out of the blocks and
with helicopter and LARC operations proceeding simultaneously by lunch 82
pods and various other items including the majority of Dangerous Goods were
dispatched to MI Station. A number of the ship's crew and the Voyage Leader
have also been boated to station to experience the sights and smells of
Macca and the station hospitality.
Cheers
