The ship anchored by 0800. Cargo on the hatch covers was moved to allow access to the tweens deck where 132 cage pallets were stored. No inflatable rubber boats (IRB's) were deployed for passenger transfers due to the high winds. The intention to move passengers by helicopter and then sling the cage pallets from the ship was also delayed by deteriorating conditions. Eventually the passengers and about 20 loads of cargo were flown ashore before the ship had to up anchor and depart due to worsening weather. We are now sailing down the east coast of Macquarie Island, trying to find sheltered waters to continue stacking cage pallets, ready to fly off tomorrow morning.
