The last ARGO float was deployed successfully last night to the south-east of BANZARE Bank. Thanks to yet another dedicated volunteer, Peter Raymond, for all his help with the float deployments (luckily only one that occurred late at night). The Continuous Plankton Recorder was deployed early this morning and will be towed 450nm before its re-deployment on the next leg. There have been numerous animal sightings from the bridge today including orcas, humpback whales, a sperm whale, Antarctic petrels, cape petrels, prions and shearwaters. Another highlight today has been the food, with fresh scones, jam and cream at morning tea, followed by curried scallops at lunch. With all the amazing food continually produced by the galley staff, it is no wonder that the gym is in such high demand.
Regards, Karen, Andy and Mick
