Day five at Casey. With the fuels hose packed away yesterday, we once again got into the cargo operations. We have been somewhat limited early on by a very large (18 tonne) sled, sitting on the hatch covers, which is more than a little tricky to move about. Today we got the Uniflotes assembled (a group of five 5.2m x 2.4m floating sections, with 2 bow sections) which is capable of taking the heaviest lifts we have on this resupply. The Uniflote is manoeuvred by either our work boat “Pagadroma” or our barge “Bill Budd”. So this morning, we gave a grateful sigh as the oversized sled made its way across the water towards Casey, and we finally got the hatch covers open, and into the ‘tween deck. Soon after that, Casey had a couple of refrigerated containers full of fresh food, fruit and veg heading their way.

Those that weren’t exhausted from the refuelling events of yesterday paid a visit to Casey last night, for either a walk around in the calm evening, or a social chat and a drink in the “Red Shed”... some managed both. It was a relaxing and fun evening, and it’s always a pleasure to get ashore after the confines of the ship for a couple of weeks.

Regards, Doug, Aaron & Margaret
