Comments

The ship was a hive of activity yesterday morning after we parked in the ice. Several vehicles came out to greet the ship and the brow was put in place to allow expeditioners and crew to pass from the ship on to the ice. The refueling deployment team swang into action, while the remaining expeditioners from the ship were inducted to station and vehicles to assist with resupply. Cargo operations began in earnest after lunch, and pumping of fuel began around 1900 hrs yesterday evening. This continued throughout the night, however, at 0600 this morning, pumping was stopped due to high winds, heavy snow and poor visibility. At this time 283 000 L of fuel had been pumped ashore. The weather forecast indicates conditions should improve later this morning, with winds easing and the worst of the precipitation had. All expeditioners and crew are glad to have finally arrived at station and, outside of their rostered duties, are enjoying the station hospitality and surrounds.
Regards,
Karin, Sharon & Adam
