Comments

Good progress was made through the ice yesterday giving a sense that we might be getting that little bit closer to our destination. This morning we have entered the thicker pack-ice section we identified from the satellite image yesterday. We have about half a degree of latitude of this thicker ice to crunch through prior to conditions improving for easier passage in to Davis. Meanwhile, life continues on the good ship Aurora Australis. The gym competition now has around 20 competitors, and the rowing machine is running almost constantly, with many working on their PB (personal best) times. In addition, our Social Committee has rallied again with a Scavenger Hunt in progress, and of course, the movies continue to roll on in the D deck Theatre. November heralds 'Movember', the month when men grow moustaches in an effort to raise money for prostate cancer research. Many of the crew are participating, and now we are half-way through the month, the moustaches are rapidly growing perhaps compensating in some way for the abundance of shaved heads on board! The weekly Muster
(safety) drill on the heli-deck today will see everyone donning their Antarctic clothing in earnest as we continue to push south towards the great white continent.
Regards,
Karin, Sharon & Adam
