All Mawson Ops suspended due to weather, wind picked up yesterday afternoon to over 40 kts making it impossible to continue with either refuelling or cargo ops. Maximum gusts overnight saw the wind peak at just over 70kts making the skipper incredibly nervous even after placing another 3 shore lines before the wind shut us down yesterday afternoon. This morning saw the wind drop down from 60 - 70 kts to about 40 - 50 kts but still not enough to resume either refuelling or cargo ops unfortunately, the forecast is for the wind to drop mid afternoon into the night to between 15 - 25 kts which would enable us to continue with refuelling and cargo and if so we plan to run until dark in an effort to get it all done this evening. 3 x uniflotes, 1 x 1/2 height container of gas and 162,000 litres of fuel remain onboard still to be discharged with 3 x redundant fuel tanks, several cage pallets of gas bottles, 1 x Mack Tipper Truck and 4 x Alener Sleds & Vans on station still to be backloaded for RTA. Weather permitting we'll knock that over this evening until then ? ............. Wait out ! Cheers, Micky & Deepy
