We continue our eastward transit this morning in moderate seas and gloomy skies with touches of sunshine. Yesterday after leaving the ice at around 0700 we encountered some big swells, which thinned out the numbers for lunch. Last night a reception was held to welcome the JARE 49 team aboard, the theme being formal wear. It is amazing how glammed up people can look in shower curtins and plastic bags. A good night was had by all. A planning meeting was held regarding the marine science phase of this homeward leg. Looks like the science support team will be kept busy for the next 17 odd days. All aboard doing well. Regards, Rob, Aaron and Mick
