Again we wake to find the ship in a white out, with fog and glare making the horizon undiscernible. So it looks like the waiting game continues for the fourth day in a row. Due to the slim prospects of flying yesterday morning, it was decided to undertake another CTD in the immediate vicinity of the fast ice. We cracked into this at around 0830 and this occupied most peoples morning till around 1200. Many were happy just to be doing something that didn't involve pushing play on a DVD player or turning a page in a book. The CTD and associated netting and surface sampling were done close to a large tabular berg, which looked spectacular as the fog drifted over it throughout the morning. After this was completed it was back into the fast ice and back to the waiting game. Last night at least 100 Adelies came to visit the ship, coming right up to the side of the ship and staying around most of the night. We also had a visit from a Crabeater seal which swam up and down alongside the ship. All aboard and ashore continue to do well despite the wait. Regards, Rob, Aaron and Mick
