Comments

The weather this morning makes it highly unlikely that we will attempt any flying today and the forecast up until Thursday is not looking good either. We have been ploughing through the same piece of sea for the past 24 hours. Back and forth waiting for an improvement to allow us to safely enter the pack and get into a fly-off position, alas to no avail. Winds were gusting to 50knts yesterday afternoon and the swell increased to make for a bit of a rough ride. Australia Day was celebrated in true Aurora Australis tradition, with Peter, Ash and the rest of the Catering team delivering a sensational seafood buffet at lunch followed by a sumptuous BBQ for dinner. Following the BBQ a special occasion was held in the bar, where you had to come dressed in something representing Australia. There were more Bogans in the bar than at the annual Canberra Summer Nats. Other imaginative examples of Aussie costumes included the traditional "Pie with Sauce", Qantas 747, a white pointer, Swagman and a few people who looked like Norm from the "Life be in it" campaign - hang on some of them weren't dressed up! A great night was had by all. All aboard and ashore doing well but wishing the weather would improve. Regards, Rob, Aaron and Mick
