Currently undertaking Conductivity Temperature Density (CTD) deployment at Station 3 on longitude 110 East and just completed our weekly safety muster on the heli deck, fully decked out in Antarctic clothing in a balmy 9.5 degrees - it doesn't get any better than this! The swell has picked up for the first time on the trip, ensuring that the line for meals has gotten shorter. Albatrosses have finally started to appear around the ship allowing those expensive cameras and lenses to finally come out of their bags. We were also treated to a sensational sunset last night, which had the cameras clicking at full speed. The JARE 50 expeditioners set up a souvenir shop in the E-Deck restaurant yesterday afternoon to sell some official merchandise. The hottest item on sale was the official t-shirt, which sold out in under five minutes. It was like the Myer Boxing Day sale, without the retail violence! The Iceberg Sweepstakes is in the process of being setup and the first session of the "AA School" lectures on Japanese culture kick off this afternoon. Regards, Rob, Aaron and Mick
