Comments

We arrived at Heard Island last night in time to see the sunset. At 0530LT the decision was made to move into Atlas Cove to prepare for helicopter operations. One flight using an S76 twin engine helicopter was made down the N side of Heard Island, with a team of photographers to record steriographic images, the extent of glaciers, positions and condition of field huts and refuges. Snow showers and a decrease in visability have curtailed hilicopter operations for now but we remain hopeful their may be another weather window later in the day. We are currently disembarking a group of essential personnel by watercraft to Atlas Cove to commence work there. Regards, Andy and Susan
