We have been steaming steadily west towards Davis, turning north occasionally to avoid the worst of the ice. Planning meetings for Davis operations are ongoing. We are preparing for the possibility of flying the medical team via Mirny to Davis tomorrow or Sunday, depending on our location. We are currently about 250 nautical miles from a likely fly-of point for Mirny and the weather forecast for that operation looks promising. Other expeditioners that may go ashore at Davis have been advised and are making the necessary preparations. Everyone onboard is doing well and in good spirits. The Field Training Officers have been busily preparing a new series of training programs and just about everyone onboard can now splice the end of a rope. Guitar jam sessions have also been popular. Unfortunately the overcast skies and lack of icebergs in this area haven’t provided many photo opportunities, but they can’t be far away….
