We have made good progress through the sea ice over the past 24 hours. We were able to follow some good leads initially and are now in more consolidated ice; although so far the ice is under no pressure and we are maintaining a good speed. We had hoped to start flying operations tomorrow (Tuesday) morning but the weather forecast predicts deteriorating conditions at both the ship and Casey – with blizzard conditions possible. It is therefore more likely that we will begin flying operations on Wednesday. Cargo rosters have been finalised and Casey expeditioners are making final preparations for going ashore. Everyone onboard is well, although a bit disappointed with the lack of icebergs in the area!
