Comments

We are crossing the crest of the mid-ocean ridge, after completing 4 CTD stations and a deep cast for trace metal sampling in the last 24 hours. The winds dropped away overnight, leaving calm clear conditions. We were lucky that on one of our few clear nights we were treated to a spectacular multi-colored aurora display. Some of the first trace metal analyses are being completed, confirming that the protocols put in place to ensure the samples are not contaminated are working well. Cheers, Steve and Deepy.
