Comments

Another beautiful day on the Southern Ocean. The underway temperature and salinity records suggest we are approaching the Subantarctic Front, one of the main jets of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. The front will be a key target of our sampling when we return north along the transect. We completed a second test of the CTD system and trace-metal-clean bottles this morning, including training of new members of the team. Most of the labs are up and running and waiting for the real sampling to begin. We continue to tow the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR), continuing the long time series of zooplankton observations made from the Aurora Australis. Enjoy the end of the long Easter weekend. Cheers, Steve and Andrew.
