Yesterday afternoon saw a busy final run of RTA cargo back to the ship and the transfer of the remaining passengers out to the ship from Mawson. With all aboard for dinner we stowed the watercraft and departed from Mawson just before 8pm last night. A massive thankyou to everyone onboard and those ashore for the enormous effort here put in at Mawson. For a while it looked like we weren’t going to get much done with our iceberg and weather troubles – but in the end we delivered fuel, all the cargo and came out with a big load of RTA. We also made a big dent in the works program and have hopefully helped Mawson off to a flying start for 2008. We have everyone safely on board who should be here – and we have again left friends behind to stay for the winter. Best of luck to our Mawson winterers – stay safe and may the year be everything that you are hoping for and more. After waving farewell, those onboard scrambled to get their cabins sorted out and gear stowed before we were back at sea again. This morning saw us making good progress out of the ice and towards our final destination of Hobart. New arrivals on the ship have completed a safety induction and we all completed a muster drill on the helideck before lunch. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
