Progress continued extremely well yesterday with the majority of inbound cargo delivered ashore by dinner time and RTA flowing back to the ship on every barge load. The bridge crew have done a great job of keeping us in position just outside Mawson for this operation, and Bosun Brian and his team of IRs have been on the go in cold conditions for days to make sure that we have made the most of our weather opportunities here. On top of the day that Mawson see us for the crew are also working to get us in and out of Mawson from our ice parking place at each end of the day. Our parking place in the ice has been breaking up over the past few nights, with the ship having to move in to tougher stuff a few times. The shore crew definitely hit their rhythm yesterday too – with containers moving smoothly into and out of the wharf area. The whole place is abuzz – we can see the end at last. This morning we moved back in to our Mawson spot again and while waiting for the wind to drop so that we could put the barge back in the water the helicopters came out to the ship and are now parked up in the hangar ready for the trip home. There are now only a few loads of RTA remaining, our passengers to collect and the watercraft to stow before we turn and leave Mawson for the trip back home to Hobart. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
