It's a slow news day today. Today is a day of food punctuated by a few naps. We are all now becoming accustomed to the longer dinner and laundry queues (the lazier amongst us are just making sandwiches or toast and not bothering with washing). On the way out through the ice of Davis yesterday we were again treated to a show of penguins, seabirds and whales. For those of us who left from Hobart and are on the round trip for this voyage today marks the half WAYPOINT of our journey. All attention is now turned towards Mawson, field training is underway for the winterers we will drop off and planning for refuelling and cargo resupply is nearly complete. Rosters are being finalised and program support developed ready for pre-arrival briefings tomorrow and our arrival at Mawson tomorrow afternoon/the following morning. Satellite ice pictures indicate that our arrival may be slowed down by ice but we won't be sure until we get there. The iceberg is still lodged in Horseshoe Harbour and looks set to stay and add to the challenges of the upcoming visit. Rumour has it that a few locks may fall in the name of fundraising for Camp Quality tonight with the voyage head shaving night scheduled to begin at 19:00. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
