Comments

We spent yesterday afternoon through to this morning stooging around in Prydz Bay, still waiting for a suitable reduction in wind speed to allow us to return to the Davis anchorage. This morning Davis reported that they were experiencing moderating conditions, despite us still being caught up in poor visibility and 20 to 30 knot winds. We decided to head their way around 09:00 and reached the anchorage at 10:00. The barge was in the water shortly after our arrival and cargo operations re-commenced. As conditions began to deteriorate again with an increase in wind gusts and lightly blowing snow beginning to reduce visibility, we switched over the passenger operations. Our first barge load of round trip expeditioners is now on the way back to the ship after their unanticipated stay ashore. We are bracing ourselves for a run on hot showers and clean clothes . . . If the weather improves this afternoon we will continue to bring RTA cargo back to the ship - if not we will sail off into the 'sunset' towards Mawson. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
