Wow what a day. With fantastic efforts from those at Casey and on the ship we are well underway with this resupply. The cargo guys did wonders and managed to discharge all the plant and cargo on the aft end, including a kasbohrer snow groomer, the air transport tracked bus and a lime green hagglunds. The refuelling crew got straight into deployment of our fuel gear, which ran longer than we had hoped but was completed successfully with fuel transfer to Casey commencing at 21:30 local time. We anticipated 20-24 hours of pumping but were pleased this afternoon to see that we will probably finish up by 17:00 and commence pack up. At 10pm last night the ship looked magnificent in the harbour as the sun set behind it casting a red glow on the ice and snow covered backdrop. Once darkness fell our clear harbour filled with lumps of ice, posing a challenge for our crews in inflatable boats who did an amazing job of keeping the fuel line clear. Meanwhile, the round trippers that we have ashore have completed station orientations and have their programs underway, with all progressing well. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
