Comments

As we steamed through patches of pancake ice and scattered icebergs, expeditioners and crew gathered for BBQ dinner on the trawl deck. The bridge was the place to be with camera at the ready yesterday and into the evening, with adelie and emperor penguins, weddel seals, humpback whales and orcas on show. While Casey was within our reach, due to our late night arrival we remained out around the Frazier Islands overnight and came in to anchor in Newcomb Bay at 07:00 this morning. We are now sitting approximately 1km off Casey. Station Leader Jeremy Smith came out to the ship this morning to brief us on life at Casey and the plan for the next few days. Final refuelling briefings and toolbox meetings are now underway. The AA2 workboat and barge are in the water, and all passengers have been transferred ashore. Casey has turned on great weather for over water operations - we anticipate starting cargo operations immediately after lunch, and station fuel equipment deployment later this afternoon. Cheers, Nicki, Rob and Peter.
