Comments

Finally we might be able to believe that we are heading for Antarctica - there was a rumour (based on our balmy weather and rough seas) that we were really off the NSW coast. Today we awoke to what the ship's log calls a "comfortable roll" and snow on deck. Not sure about the 'comfortable' as chairs were still rolling over, drawers popping open and things falling off tables - but that seems to have settled down again now. It is still difficult to believe that we are within 80 nm of Casey as there is very little ice. There are occasional icebergs and in the last hour or so some small chunks of ice floating in the water around us. Preparations are commencing for passengers to go ashore at Casey, and for refuelling and cargo operations. We hope to make a start tomorrow - but this is in the hands of the weather gods. The 3rd CPR was retrieved safely at midnight last night. Cheers from Nicki, Rob and Peter.
