Comments

We commenced helicopter operations at 0800 yesterday in fine weather and all passengers and cargo were flown ashore. The 2007 Mawson Winterers were flown back to the ship at 1545 following 5 or so hours of changeover on Station. The 2 Squirrel helicopters were flown ashore at Mawson to fly back to Davis at a later stage. Aurora departed the ice edge at 1800 and is currently having an easy run through leads and variable 1st year ice - having made 100 Nm overnight. Another fine day today with a BBQ planned for this evening to welcome the Mawson team and mark the start of our journey home. All well. Regards, Don and Hully.
