Comments

After a good start travelling through broken 1st year floes and open leads, we have been struggling though a particularly heavy 600m band of ice with heavy snow cover and ridging for the last 15 hours. The end of this is within half a ships length, and we expect to get back in clear water shortly. We intend to conduct Ice reconnisance by helicopter as required today to find a way through the heavy floes in this region, ahead of expected bad weather coming over the next 2 days. All well aboard, and enjoying the scenery, penguins watching us, and the odd whale spout. Regards, Don and Hully
