We arrived at Ice Station 4 this morning, but abandoned it due to unfavourable ice and weather conditions. We were in a particularly ridged area of ice which was ultimately unworkable, particularly in wind of 30 knots that has since strengthened to nearly 40 knots. We are now heading south to the fast ice edge where we hope to conduct an ice station tomorrow. Last night's RMT and SUIT yielded some krill, and both trawls performed well, with another RMT currently underway. Some more wildlife has been sighted today, including a Minke whale, Adelie penguins, snow petrels and an Antarctic petrel. Regards, Tony, Dave and Petra.
