A cold, clear day. We are continuing to work at Ice Station 2 after remaining on location overnight. The oceanographers ran their Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler overnight, checking on it every two hours. Some seals were also seen in the ROV hole early this morning, but not since. Aircraft operations began immediately after breakfast and will continue for the remainder of the day. We have flown transects north and south of the ship and will complete an overpass of the drifting buoy array later in the day. A great deal of activity has focused on drilling and measuring the ice and snow along a 200 m transect across the ice station, with the aircraft also making some low passes over the same line, to help with instrument calibration. It is particularly cold working out on the ice today, but the fine weather is making up for it. We all have lots of sunscreen on! Regards, Tony, Dave and Petra.
