Comments

The onslaught of sampling at process station 3 continues, although at a more relaxed pace. We have deployed CTD casts to 2500m, 1000m, 400m and 200m. The RMT, snatchers, ring nets, NIWA, Catax and FRRF have also collected their samples. People are busy in their labs processing samples. This morning we recovered the G-trap and pinyata and deployed the drifting O-trap. We have recently finished another CTD cast to 400m, and associated trawl deck deployments. We are now preparing to deploy the McLean pumps. We expect to remain at process station 3 until early morning on Valentines day before heading off to a couple of mapping stations. We will then return to this location for 2 more days of sampling and to recover the drifting sediment traps. Regards Vicky & Karin
