We have set our anticipated arrival time as 8.00am on Sunday 14 January. We intend to tie up at Princes Wharf, opposite Salamanca Place, Hobart. We hit rougher weather last night and many people lost sleep sliding about in their bunks. They must be catching it up today because there is little movement about the ship. Outside the sun is shining and a wandering albatross and several petrels can be seen gliding in our wake. The bow rises over the swell and pounds down into the troughs sending out a wave of foam and a cloud of spray on either side of the ship. Our rounded ice breaking hull means that a healthy roll is associated with each swell. The swells are never predictable so we continually experience movement in all directions. Tonight we will judge the winners of the Aurora photography competition. One of the crew has submitted a stunning shot of the bow of the ship reflected in the perfectly still waters of Newcomb Bay.
