Comments

As the wind lifts and the swell rises we feel like more like we are at sea than the vast placid lake of previous days. The bulkheads creak and moving around requires a little more concentration than it did when we were in the ice. We are making good progress though the open water though. The ship should arrive off Casey ready to start work on the morning of the 31st. Planning for the operations at Casey is progressing well with a phone link up with the station occurring yesterday. Preparing for a resupply seems to be a balance between considering the hundred and one things that need to be done and accepting the fact that everything can be changed at a moments notice by the weather or a recalcitrant piece of machinery. Jason and Pete entertained a small crowd in a beerless bar last night with their guitars and singing. The guys were great but the prize went to a Chinese expeditioner who could not only turn out Chinese folk music on the guitar but played click goes the shears on harmonica as well.
