Yesterday the weather cleared after lunch, precisely as forecast. The helicopter pilots and the deck crew worked hard to get as much cargo in to the Chinese station as they could. By ten at night when we stopped they had choppered in all the cargo leaving only the food for the Chinese wintering party to go. Today has dawned another perfect summers day (well it is minus four, but the sun is out and the sky clear). We will try to deliver all the Chinese food today and be on our way back to Davis tonight. The captain is moving the ship closer to Zhongshan to help speed up the helicopter turn around. We’re hoping for a big day of helicopter operations. Merry Christmas to all our friends and family back home. We won’t celebrate Christmas tomorrow; we’ll save that special occasion until after we leave Davis. On the third day of Christmas the bosun gave to me three ship’s mates, two idle choppers and a cable reel in a cargo net.
