We were welcomed into the furious fifties (south of latitude 50S) last night with some rougher weather which slowed us to around nine knots. Today the Aurora continues to plough steadily onwards producing impressive plumes of spray over the bow as she takes the tops off passing waves. The darker skies, dropping temperatures and greyer seas add to the sensation that we are going the right direction. A light mantled sooty albatross made an appearance this morning and more field training is underway. A game of secret assassin starts today so expect shorter sitreps while I try to avoid would be ‘killers’!
