Davis! Yahoo! Arrived off station about 1600 yesterday afternoon, and spent about 5 hours tentatively parking the ship in the 1.7m thick, brittle ice. We eventually declared ourselves "comfortable", 2.5 ship lengths in, with a few cracks radiating out from the ship. We've ended up very close to where the road from Davis ended, so not too much work had to be done again. This morning, many of us on the ship joined people from Davis on Anchorage Island for a dedication service for the cross that has been erected to honour the memory of Peter Orbansen, who died one year ago today. We had a cargo and refuelling briefing back on the ship, and by 1000, the turning circle for cargo ops had been graded, and the first cargo lift was off the ship. Most people have wandered in to "town", or are actively involved in cargo ops. The weather is good, and so far all's going well. Regards from Doug and Nicky
