Comments

The cloud persisted to our south yesterday, and the occasional snow shower moved about, and over the ship. An afternoon heli recce confirmed the ice was opening to our south, but we could find no obvious path through the 4 miles of heavily ridged and rafted ice to our immediate south. So we stayed put. Conditions early this morning looked promising, or at least hinted at becoming promising, but a quick scout from the ship to our south in one helicopter showed that we are not going to get far without a dramatic improvement in conditions.
