Comments

A slight improvement in visibility allowed us to get underway again this morning, after drifting with the ice for the last 36 hours (about 26 nm). Now heading south-west, hoping to close the distance to Mawson. There are few leads heading directly to where we want to go, so we're having to "zig" rather than "zig-zag". Although the forecast for the next two days is not encouraging, we want to be as close as possible to take advantage of any breaks in the weather that present themselves. The punters on board are looking forward to a delayed telecast of the Melbourne Cup in the next hour or so. Otherwise, we're trying to be Zen about our predicament, practicing the fine art of Antarctic Patience. REGARDS Doug and Nicki
