Comments

The weather deteriorated again yesterday afternoon, calling off our planned helicopter spy-hop to check out ice conditions around us. So we spent the night in our MCG-sized pond, drifting with the pack to the WSW, then later to the NW. By morning, more open water had appeared around us, and after a helicopter ice recce flight, we saw a way towards the open ocean about 15 nm to our north. A pod of killer whales had come up for breath near us, so we knew there should be openings all the way to our north. Currently following leads, and broken and rotting pack areas, and making good progress. (insert sigh of relief here...) REGARDS Doug & Rob
