Very slow progress yesterday due to ice and weather in 'north-western' Prydz Bay. Encountered a heavy band of pack well north of the Fram Bank while aiming for a clear route to the west indicated on satellite images. Dense fog with visibility down to 50 metres set in and lasted for four hours, forcing the ship to halt pending an improvement in conditions. Now moving well and arrival at the fast ice polynya north of Mawson (which is growing larger by the day) looks a possibility for late a.m. Monday. Time needed to work the fast ice is 'unguessible' at this stage therefore can't provide an ETA Kista Strait as yet.REGARDS:
