We’ve been steaming to weather for much of the last 24 hours. Winds peaked at 65 knots at about 2200 last night and stayed above 50 knots for about a 6 hour stretch. It made for impressive viewing from the bridge (at least whenever the bridge deck was not covered in spray). All are well, if somewhat bleary-eyed after a less than perfect night for sleeping. The wind has eased off a bit now and we are steaming back towards the first of the three remaining CTDs on this northern end of the transect, hoping to finish them off by some time tomorrow.
