Comments

Sunday: Helicopter operations began 0830, all remaining Mawson passengers and baggage ashore; changeover ceremony 1000; all RTA passengers and baggage on ship by 1345; weather deteriorated to whiteout which prevented helicopters from returning to Mawson. TO departed Davis at 1000 (MBT), and Mt Creswell at 1400, arrived Mawson at 1610. Weather cleared at ship sufficiently for helicopters to take off for Mawson at 1620, one returned with passenger from TO and ship departed for Hobart at 1654. Thanks once again to helicopter pilots Ward and John, and TO pilots Scott and Trevor, for a successful mission in marginal conditions. Briefing and ship inspection for Mawson expeditioners held, then most of us glad of an early night. Ship made good progress overnight through belts of mostly loose pack ice
