Two successful sorties with the helicopters yesterday for regional sampling of algal communities in sea ice. We remained docked in our big floe, and work in the ice tent continued throughout the day. The weather gradually deteriorated, with strong easterly winds setting us in motion, happily to the west and clear of iceberg A4, allowing us to hold position in the floe (even though we're going with the floe...get it? floe? flow? oh never mind...). Some hasty work with deadmen borrowed from the glacio AWS had the ice tent secured for the night. Winds have eased this morning, and the bios are back into it. An emergency muster drill this morning to keep us on our toes, after a birthday "party" last night saw us all nudging up to our 3 light beers per person limit! REGARDS Dug
