Commenced movement at 1640 yesterday but made little progress due to close horizons and return of snow. Halted 2230 and resumed at 0430 this morning. Flew ice recons at 0615 and 0845. These indicate improving conditions not far ahead. Vessel halted at -65 08, 108 09 in dense ice, awaiting easing of tidal pressure on floes before recommencing progress to Casey. Unable to fly to station due to unsatisfactory horizon definition. Very successful buffet dinner last night - possibly premature last ship-board evening meal for Caseyites. Now hopeful for ETA Casey some time Thursday. REGARDS J&L
