Strong katabatics prevented flying until 1020 local this morning. Now flying remaining pax and cargo ashore. Hope to have this completed by mid-day Saturday, weather permitting Yesterday, weather precluded flying due to poor visibility until 1400. After that, flights commenced, moving 11 personnel and their fly-off baggage ashore and much of the remaining personal baggage. The weather closed in again at 1905, just as the last aircraft returned to the ship. All expeditioners were able to walk on the sea ice adjacent to the ship where dozens of Emperor Penguins obligingly posed for innumerable photographs. Field Training resumed today for ongoing expeditioners, utilising the surrounding sea ice. REGARDS J&L
