Comments

After departing the anchorage at 1856 yesterday Aurora returned to Buckles Bay at 0700 this morning. The Changeover Ceremony was held at 1030. Congratulations to the Macquarie Island Expos for their tolerance and good humour during our visit - it must be hard when there is always a visitor in your favourite chair!! Their kindness was much appreciated as was their enthusiasm and hard work during all aspects of the operation. We owe a lot of people a BIG Thank you. Good Luck to the 2002 Expos - you have a lot to look forward to. Weather squalls during the day delayed passenger transport to the ship. At times there were gusts up to 50 knots. Surf conditions not suitable for IRB use. At 1230 passenger transfers by helicopter were initiated and completed by 1415. Currently evaluating the possibility of bringing the LARCs onboard as conditions have eased somewhat but this and our departure tonight will depend on weather and sea conditions in the next few hours.
