Comments

Arrived at the ice edge early this morning in heavy fog, driving snow and currently holding position awaiting improved visibility to advance towards the Amery. Position of ULS1 covered in ice, retrieval impossible. We require ice reconnaissance by helicopter before approaching the Amery to be certain of routes in and out of the area. Flying range from Davis currently 55 nm but weather unsuitable this end and Davis. Possible window in the weather forecast tomorrow. Davis met forecasts have been very accurate and critical to planning. In HF radio contact with Davis and PB.
