Strong winds prevented cargo operations commencing until 1230. First item of cargo loaded was the Met Tech hut and it is safely on the ship without damage and remaining items of cargo took longer to backload than anticipated mainly due to strong winds slowing operations. The changeover ceremony was conducted at 1500 and all passengers transferred to the ship by 1630. All cargo and barges loaded by 1800 and lashing completed by 1945. A life boat was lowered and checked and a boat muster conducted at 2025 and the ship sailed from Mawson at 2120. The resupply and backloading was an outstanding team effort under difficult conditions and I cannot praise the efforts of the Master and crew on the ship, the DVL, and the expeditioners at Mawson too highly, and I thank everyone for their contribution.
