The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) will be approaching government agencies to solicit new project requests (previously project applications) that meet the revised focus of the Program and the Australian Antarctic Science Strategic Plan. The AAD will also work with the Australian Antarctic Program Partnership and Australian Research Council Special Research Initiatives Securing Antarctica's Environmental Future and Australian Centre for Excellence and Antarctic Science to incorporate their project activities within the project request system. We encourage project owners to develop inter agency and multi-disciplinary projects that represent scientific excellence in research design and delivery.

The AAD will take advice from the Australian Antarctic Science Council on unmet science priorities and accordingly commission research to address these specific gaps.

The refocussing of the Australian Antarctic Science Program prioritises critical science for Government whilst continuing to work with the university-based research community to address key elements of the Australian Antarctic Science Strategic Plan.
