You’ve met Australia’s new icebreaker, RSV Nuyina, now meet the people who will captain and crew the ship as they prepare for its arrival in Hobart in 2020.
Captain Scott Laughlin, who was Master of the Aurora Australis for more than 10 years, is in Romania with a small team, to ensure the ship is ready for sea and ice trials and to become familiar with it’s capabilities and operation.
Captain Paul Clarke, who previously worked for the British Antarctic Survey, is currently on the Aurora Australis as it makes its way to Davis research station, to familiarise himself with Australian Antarctic operations and sea routes. Captain Paul will join the team in Romania when he returns.
Follow this ‘Captains Log’ to share in their experiences.
