The science building at Casey includes:

  • 3 General Laboratories
  • Microscope room
  • Preparation room
  • Instrument room
  • Wet lab
  • Electronics workshop
  • Office space (12 desks)
  • Hazardous chemical storage facility
The laboratories are connected to station services, have hot and cold running water, facilities to pipe gases into most rooms and a central vacuum system. They contain:
  • Millipore 'Integral' water purification unit,
  • Fume cupboards
  • Laminar flow
  • Temperature/light programmable culture cabinets
  • Fridge & freezer storage capacity
  • Ovens 
  • Microscopes
  • Centrifuges
  • Autoclave
  • pH/conductivity meters
  • Analytical & bench top balances
  • Muffle Furnace
  • Vortex mixers

The following equipment is also available for use at Casey upon request:

  • Flow Cytometers (FacScan; FacScalibur)
  • Flow Cam (Fluid Imaging)
  • Water baths
  • Suspension mixers
  • Automatic titrators
